Gordon Bridger was born and brought up in Argentina. He studied at the London School of Economics and Manchester University. He worked for the United Nations and the British Ministry of Overseas Development in a number of countries in Africa, Australasia and South America.
On retiring he entered local politics in Guilford, becoming mayor in 2003. He is the author of three books, including How I Failed to Save the World (or forty years of Foreign Aid) that was published in 2008.
Some of you may remember that last year he gave a talk at the Embassy Residence in Belgrave Square on the subject of British Pioneers in Argentina. It was well attended and much appreciated. We look forward to another stimulating talk this year and encourage you to attend.
